Assumes every instalment is paid on time at the start of each month. Your bank’s figure can differ slightly because of rounding, and RD interest is taxable at your slab rate (TDS may be deducted).

How is RD maturity calculated?
In a recurring deposit you pay the same amount every month, and each instalment earns compound interest only for the months it stays in the account — so the first instalment earns the most and the last one the least. With quarterly compounding, the formula banks use is:
M = P × ((1 + i)n − 1) ÷ (1 − (1 + i)−1/3)
- M — the maturity amount
- P — the monthly instalment
- i — the quarterly interest rate, i.e. the yearly rate ÷ 4 ÷ 100
- n — the number of quarters (tenure in months ÷ 3)
For other compounding frequencies the calculator applies the same idea: each instalment grows at the periodic rate for the time it’s actually invested.
